# First Steps Into Governance

Why work in governance?We believe that Governance processes are crucial in the Ethereum ecosystem because they ensure decentralization, community participation, and long-term sustainability in protocols that aim to operate without centralized authorities. To ensure that a proper alignment and functionality of all protocols there are are key points that need to be managed and can only be done by engaging in governance processes, for us some of the most important points are: Power Distribution Decision Making Security & Stability Community Engagement Regulatory Compliance Decentralization In order to help the ecosystem move in the right direction, we have expanded our core team to specifically work with protocols and our community by creating proposals that can help resolve some of the issues that we are currently facing, at the same time help educate our community in everything related to governance and the importance of actively participating in ongoing and upcoming processes.How do we prepare?We have been conducting a very thorough research process into identifying that main issues that our ecosystem is currently facing and at the same time examining the positive and negatives that have come out of the different governance processes that have been previously conducted, in order to be better equipped and help move protocols in a direction that will help users all around.Scroll GovernanceSince early November we’ve been working with the Scroll Governance team and dozens of delegates from around the world in creating proposal that will shape the early stages of the Scroll DAO. This is being a long process with over 35 hours of online calls and a very extensive time of async work thats been put into creating 3 different proposals directed towards: Ecosystem Growth, Community and Governance. At the time of this report, the process is about to enter the voting stage and we as a team are evaluating the different proposals in order to decide which ones to support.What does the future hold?For us its clear that Governance is going to be one of the key elements in our contribution to the Ethereum ecosystem for years to come, thats why we are going to keep working actively as delegates in processes around the ecosystem and at the same time we are going to keep helping our community to get a better understanding of the importance of this matter and teach them how they can get involved and contribute. In the first few weeks of 2025 we will continue with a series of publications of both articles and videos as a way of keeping our community up to date with what's going on around the ecosystem as well as issues and advances made in relation to governance.
